Weekly Update

This Weekend We will continue our Practicum series… a series that has been focusing on why we do what we do as a church. This weekend,  as we serve with Appalachia Service Project, we will talk about why we GO.

ASP Trip This weekend, several staff members will be going on a mission trip with Appalachia Service Project to Chavies, KY. We will be repairing homes for families in that community and would like you to remember this wonderful  opportunity in your prayers.  Please be praying that the Holy Spirit would be present, and creating opportunities for Christ’s love to be expressed, and that all activities may be carried out safely.

Whiz Kids Whiz Kids is a tutoring/mentoring program we offer on during the school year for students in our community. If you would like to help out with our “Club Time” or provide childcare for our tutors, please contact amy@myeastside.cc.

Eastside University Beginning Wednesday October 26th, Eastside University will begin. This time around there will be four classes offered:  The Journey class, an opportunity to learn about Eastside’s passions, aims and opportunities, the Engage class, geared to our families here at Eastside, the Truth class, which will explore more in-depth Bible Study, and the Equip class, which will explore and call everyone to discipleship. Childcare will be provided for children 10 and under.  You can register at www.eastsideonline.cc under the ‘Get Involved’ tab.

Chili, Cars & Candy On Saturday, October 29th, from noon – 3 pm, we will be hosting our next Eastside Gathering. We want to invite everyone to bring a pot of their favorite chili to share and to enter into our Chili Cook-off. We also want you to invite everyone to decorate their car and bring some candy to share so we can invite kids to stop by for “trunk or treat”. Please RSVP to jeff@myeastside.cc if you are planning to bring a pot of chili and/or participate in the “trunk or treat”.

Family Experience Just a heads up regarding a special family service on October 30th.  Come prepared to worship with the whole family, children included!

Baby Dedication On Sunday, October 30, we will be offering our next Baby Dedication.  If you have a child that is 18 months or younger and would like to be a part of this special day, please contact christine@myeastside.cc for more information.

Resource Center If you would like to help support the Resource Center, our primary needs this week are pancake mix and syrup, chicken helper, dish soap and laundry detergent. You can drop them off in one of the grocery carts placed at the entrance on the weekends.

Pre-Teens Making A Difference On Sunday, October 30th, we are asking everyone to bring some items for our Resource Center and to leave them in a bag behind your car. Our pre-teens (4th/5th) will pick them up during the service and stock them in our Resource Center.

The Scally-Shindig We have a great event planned for 4th and 5th graders on Sunday, October 30th, from 12:30 – 4 pm. The cost is $15 plus a few items for our Resource Center. It will include food, laser tag and an opportunity to make a difference. If you have any questions, please contact shane@myeastside.cc.

Eastside Women There will be a women’s event on November 5th from 6-9 pm, with ‘Goodies, Games and Gab.‘ For more information, or to get connected,Please contact      women@myeastside.cc for more

Fighting Hunger 5K We are putting together a team from Eastside to run/walk in the Fighting Hunger 5k on Saturday, November 5th, at 8:30 am in Blue Ash. The event proceeds go to Matthew 25 Ministries. You can register for our team online at http://www.hunger5k.kintera.org/eastside.

Weekly Update

This Weekend Travis will continue our Practicum series … a series that has been focusing on why we do what we do as a church. This weekend, he will be talking about why we preach.  Our memory verse for this coming week is 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

Whiz Kids Whiz Kids is a tutoring/mentoring program we offer on during the school year for students in our community. The kick-off is this Tuesday, October 4th. If you would like to help out with our “Club Time” or provide childcare for our tutors, please contact amy@myeastside.cc.

Centralized Children’s Check-In One more reminder, all of our Children’s Check-In stations have been consolidated into one. It is located in the inner lobby just outside of the auditorium. Please make sure you stop by before taking your elementary students upstairs.

Motorcycle Ride

There is a motorcycle ride planned for this Sunday to benefit Help Build Hope, our ministry that supports Whiz Kids and our Resource Center. Cost for the ride is $15 per bike/$20 with passenger. The ride will start at 1:30 pm. You can also purchase $1 tickets in the lobby that can be redeemed from Gold Star Chili for a cheese coney. All proceeds will go to Help Build Hope.

Financial Peace University

FPU is a life-changing program that teaches you how to make wise decisions with your money. We will be offering a 13 week class on Tuesdays (with childcare), beginning August 30th from 6:15 to 8:15 pm. The cost is $100. You can sign up at the Info Center this weekend. Wacky Wednesdays

Our Water Works edition of Wacky Wednesdays returns on July 27th … Water Works Part 2. Everyone loves a good summer sequel! This one will take place in the evening beginning at 7 pm.  Join us as we cool off with pools, slip n’ slides and all the water balloons you can handle.  This event is for kids of all ages so wear your swim suits and have fun splashing around with your family!

Whiz Kids Backpack Drive

Yesterday, we announced the return of our annual Whiz Kids Backpack Drive. Please consider supporting a child in the Milford community by purchasing a backpack and filling it with the following resources. If you have any questions, please contact amy@myeastside.cc. Stuffed backpacks can be dropped off at the Info Center on the weekends (by August 14th please). Here is the list for this year:

- 1 backpack
- 24 #2 pencils
- 1 pair of Fiskar scissors
- 6 glue sticks
- 3 spiral notebooks
- 1 composition notebook
- 1 box of 24 crayons
- 2 yellow highlighters
- 4 pocket/prong folders (red, green, blue, yellow)
- 1 pack of washable markers
- 1 box of tissues
- 1 ruler (metric & standard)
- 1 pencil box
- 2 packs of loose leaf wide ruled paper
- 1 hand sanitizer
- 1 container of Clorox wipes
- 1 roll of paper towels
- 1 box of gallon Ziploc bags
